WORK PERMIT INFORMATION

 

Work Permit Issuance During Winter Break Will be Handled at by Appointments Only at the Hart District Office.

Starting on December 23, 2024- Until January 9, 2025

 

In order to obtain an appointment, a student needs to send an email to [email protected]. Appointments will be offered every 15 minutes. 

 

Please be sure you have completed the following steps prior to applying for a work permit:

 

STEP 1: Secure Employment


Students need to secure a job before obtaining a work permit.


STEP 2: Download the Work Permit Application

STEP 3: Complete the Work Permit Application:

  1. Students are to complete the sections “Minor’s Information” and “School Information.”
  2. Employers are to complete the section “For Employer to Complete” then print and sign their name.
  3. Parents/guardians are required to sign the form for knowledge and consent.

STEP 4: During Winter Break - Work Permits are offered by appointment on the following dates and times at the Hart District office - 21380 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita, CA 91350. The permits will be issued by appointment only during the below times.  

 

December 23, 2024 - 9am - 12pm 

December 27, 2024 - 9am-12pm 

 

December 30, 2024 - 1-4pm 

January 3, 2025 - 9am - 12pm and 1-4pm

 

January 6, 2025 - 9am-12pm 

January 7, 2025 - 1-4pm 

January 8, 2025 - 9am-12pm 

January 9, 2025 - 1-4pm 

 

The appointments are 15 minutes and can be made by emailing [email protected].

 

Starting on January 13, 2025- Work Permits Issuance will be handled at the school site as stated below. 

How to obtain a Work Permit


Things to know about work permits
 

  • Work permits must be obtained by any student under the age of 18 who has a job.
  • A student needs a new work permit every time they begin a new job.
  • All work permits expire at the start of the school year and must be renewed even if this student has not changed jobs.
 
How to obtain a work permit
  1. Get a Request for Work Permit (Forms are available in the counseling office)
  2. Complete the “Minor Information” section
  3. Have your supervisor at work complete the “Employer section”.  Make sure they sign it!
  4. Have a parent/guardian sign the application.
  5. Bring the completed application to Mrs. Elhilu in the counseling office.
  6. You will have to return in 24-48 hours to sign and pick-up your completed work permit.
  7. Work permits are not produced on the spot.
Reasons Work Permits May be Denied or Revoked
  • Student has poor school attendance
  • Student has poor school achievement
  • Student has discipline issues at school.

 

ENTERTAINMENT WORK PERMITS MUST BE OBTAINED IN THE REGISTRAR'S OFFICE.
